Staff Sargent Parker Gordon Fox Grant Program

Staff Sergeant Parker Gordon Fox was a veteran who joined the Army in 2014 and was a sniper instructor at the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Known for his generosity and kindness to others in need, Fox died by suicide on July 21, 2020, at the age of 25. In memory of him, a grant has been created to help save veterans and active-duty personnel from suicide.

The VFW traces its roots back to 1899 when veterans of the Spanish-American War (1898) and the Philippine Insurrection (1899-1902) founded local organizations to secure rights and benefits for their service: Many arrived home wounded or sick. There was no medical care or veterans' pension for them, and they were left to care for themselves.
